Jumpstart Day Training

Dog training is hard. We make it easy.

You already wear enough hats—why add “dog trainer” to the list?

Training can leave even the best dog parents feeling frustrated and impatient. We’ll help you lay the foundation for a well-behaved dog you love to spend time with.

Jumpstart Day Training is the Most Effective Training Method

Your dog learns best with consistent, expert training. We’re pros at teaching your dog in a fraction of the time it takes the average owner—and with better results.

Better results, faster

Professional training is the most efficient and effective way to teach your dog. We’ve had over a decade of practice—let us jumpstart your training journey!

Peace of mind

There’s a lot of training advice out there—you just want to know what’s best for your dog. Avoid common pitfalls with an expert on the other end of the leash.

They work while you do

We’ll come to you and train your dog in their normal home environment. They’ll sharpen their skills while you work (or play).

How it Works

Goal Setting

Every Jumpstart Day Training Package starts with our Bite-Size Basics video training series and an in-person initial consultation. We use this time to:

Meet you and your dog

Get clear on the results you’re aiming for

Teach dog behavior basics and lay the foundation for successful learning

Cover steps you can take right away to prevent problem behaviors

Expert Training

This is where we take the leash! We come to your home and work directly with your dog two days a week.

At the end of each week, you’ll join a transfer session to build your skills so you can keep those newly-learned behaviors going after training is done.

Follow Up

We’d never leave you hanging! The final step is two follow-up sessions.

We’ll come back a couple of weeks after your sessions have wrapped to check in on progress and further refine your dog’s skills so they last a lifetime.

Day Training with Patrice has been one of the best things we did for our family! My husband and I have two dogs, a 8month old cattle dog rescue, Maisey, and a 3 year old Aussipoo rescue, Hazel. We needed help for our puppy with loose leash walking, greeting people nicely, and overall impulse control.

Jumpstart Day Training is the fastest, most reliable way to teach basic skills or resolve common behavioral problems, including…

Basic obedience: sit, down, stay, come when called, impulse control, etc.

“Rowdies”: jumping, digging, chewing, barking, etc.

Puppy training

Leash reactivity

Loose leash walking

Jumpstart Day Training is perfect for:

Busy professionals looking for a pre-set, multi-week training package requiring minimal time and effort

Basic obedience training and un-learning problem behaviors

Training in your home, letting your dog learn right where they need their skills most

Mid-day entertainment for your dog, complete with a potty break and mental/physical exercise

Day Training is not a good fit for:

Consistent management issues, like counter surfing

Separation anxiety

Extreme fear of strangers (dogs must engage with us to learn)

Dog-dog or dog-human tensions within the household (*Note: Day Training in general can work for this; we just don’t offer a package for it. Ask to work with Sam for training options to address these issues.)

Ready for Relief?

The first step to your very own well-behaved dog is the initial consult and our Bite-Size Basics video training series.

Initial consults run ~90 minutes in the comfort of your own home and cost $250. We'll meet you and your dog in person, suggest a training plan based on your goals, and cover the steps you can take to start shifting your dog's behavior right away. If you move forward with a day training package, the initial consult fee counts towards the cost of your package.

Also included with your initial consult is Bite-Size Basics, a short video training series that's easily worth the cost of the consult all on its own. These short training videos will kickstart the basic knowledge and skills you need for long-term success, including:

  • Why your dog does what they do
  • How dogs learn
  • How you affect your dog's behavior (even if you don't realize it)
  • Core strategies to start changing your dog's behavior today

If you're feeling frustrated, embarrassed, or downright stumped by your dog's behavior, we can help! Schedule your initial consult today by filling out this quick Initial Consult Request Form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Day Training work better than one on one coaching?

One-on-one coaching is less about training your dog and more about teaching you to be a trainer, which takes time and skill development on your part. Beginning trainers often make common mistakes that can delay your dog’s progress, leaving you frustrated and anxious in the meantime. With Jumpstart Day Training, we do the foundational work for you, so you can focus on loving your dog while we focus on the training. Weekly transfer sessions teach you only what you need to know to keep these behaviors going in real life. This format takes the pressure off and gets you to the end result—enjoying life with a well-behaved dog—more quickly.

Why do the packages cost so much?

We believe in delivering lasting results and in setting you and your dog up for lifelong success. Changing behavior patterns takes time, repetition, and skill, which we provide in our training packages. We visit your dog multiple times each week to give them the practice they need to internalize new skills, and we also have a weekly transfer session with you to make sure you can keep up with your dog’s improvements. On top of that, we don’t want to say goodbye as soon as things are going well! We do follow-up sessions to ensure your dog’s new manners stick and to work out any challenges that might pop up.

In short: we’re doing the hard part for you so you can skip to the good part—an enjoyable relationship with your delightful dog!

What is your cancellation policy?

Consistent training is vital to your dog’s success. Because consistency is so important—and because we want you to see results in a timely manner—we try to stick to our session schedule as closely as possible. This allows us to better achieve your training goals and maximize your investment. It also lets us help other clients who are waiting for their turn to train!

You can reschedule one training session included in your package no later than 72 hours ahead of the scheduled session. However, if you cancel within 72 hours or miss a session, we must charge a $165 cancellation fee since it’s too late for someone else to use that time slot. Of course, we know that unforeseen emergencies can happen! We’ll handle those on a case-by-case basis.

Can I be involved in the training sessions?

Jumpstart Day Training takes the guesswork out of training because we do it for you! The goal is to make training as efficient and effective as possible. We find that a working session between just the trainer and dog, without distraction from the owner, is most effective for your dog’s learning process.

However, you can watch the training sessions if you wish. The trainer will focus entirely on your dog, though; they won’t be able to answer questions or explain what they are doing. All of the information you need will be communicated during our weekly transfer sessions, when we’ll answer your questions and teach you everything you need to know. Make no mistake—you are an important part of your dog’s continued success. We need your involvement in the weekly transfer sessions to really make the training stick!

Which package should I choose?

It depends on the issue(s) you’re struggling with most. We always recommend focusing on your most important training goal first.

  • If your biggest headache is your dog pulling on leash, we recommend starting with our Loose Leash Walking package.
  • If they bark and lunge at others on walks, start with our On-Leash Reactivity package.
  • New puppy? We have two different puppy packages to choose from. The Premium Puppy is the most thorough, focusing on all the most important behaviors for your puppy to learn.
  • If your challenges are more about basic obedience issues like jumping, not coming when called, door dashing, etc., check out our 4- and 5-week basic obedience packages. Depending on the problem, 4 weeks of work can provide resolution. The 5-week package is best if you have several challenging issues.

Still not sure? Schedule a free 15-minute discovery call and we’ll help you find the best solution for you!

Can I get away with less expensive training options?

We often see people wanting to find the cheapest way to get training results. And hey, we get it—who doesn’t want to save some money? Jumpstart Day Training is not a cheap fix; it’s an investment in quality of life for you and your dog.

After over a decade of training experience, we truly believe that Day Training is the most efficient and effective way to reach your training goals. We’ve seen so many clients struggle to become trainers during one-on-one coaching—and while some of them have gotten results, we’ve found a better way that helps dogs learn faster with less stress on their humans. (Also, you get what you pay for. If you’d found success in free online videos or low-cost options, you wouldn’t be here!)
